The APEX2 series of illumination systems are designed as compact, economical and fully integrated light source solutions for a wide variety of applications. The APEX2 is a turnkey illuminator design producing a collimated 1.3-inch [33 mm] diameter output beam. Just install the lamp, connect the power cord and switch on the power. No lamp alignment or power adjustments are required.

Newport broadband fiber illuminators are compact, cost-effective, and easy to operate with no adjustments required. To achieve improved beam quality and efficiency, the illuminators make use of refractive optics. A built-in four-position filter slide is used for holding bandpass or neutral density filters.

Newport provides systems for operation of deuterium, arc and quartz tungsten halogen lamps, as well as infrared elements.

For running the specified lamp, every system is factory pre-set and is inclusive of a pre-aligned lamp base.

Calibrated irradiance sources and spectral calibration lamps are designed
for different purposes but in order to perform a full system calibration they
are frequently combined.
For best results a spectral line lamp should be used for wavelength calibration
followed by a calibrated irradiance lamp in order to complete power level calibration.
When dealing with a range of 200 nm to 400 nm a calibrated deuterium source is
recommended, while for ranges from 250 nm to 2400 nm a calibrated quartz tungsten
halogen source should be used.
When not in need of perfect precision the Hg(Ar) spectral calibration lamp can perform
the spectral calibration and relative power level calibration.

Used most often in mineral, energy, and petro chemical industries for X-ray inspection of container tanks and pipelines.
