Vahle presents heavy-duty and motor-driven cable festoon systems. In recent times, demand for higher container crane capacities have been constantly on the rise. Trolley speeds above 200 m/min are very common these days. This, in turn, is posing a challenge on the technical limits of traditional cable festoon systems.
To match the ever-increasing trolley speeds and related cable material load, new methods are being introduced. When motor-driven and drive-less cable festoon systems are combined, it results in an economical solution. For safe cable handling at over 200 m/min speed, certain cable festoon systems need to be provided with a drive. This is to ensure that the crane trolley and power supply are optimally aligned. In practice, each crane and its technical parameters determine how many motor-driven cable festoon systems are needed. These parameters include trolley track, acceleration, speed, number of runs, cable weight, etc.

Tension relief ropes between the individual trolleys provide for a damped start-up, so that the cables themselves are not subjected to any strain.
Combined with normal cable trolleys, the speed of the overall system is significantly increased. At the same time, mechanical signs of wear are minimised by means of the specific control system, which also sustainably reduces time and costs for maintenance work.

In these systems, a tensioned wire rope serves as the track for the cable trolley. The complete system can be set up quickly and easily and is normally used if free space needs to be bridged and rails cannot be installed on the ceiling or walls.
The cable trolleys are suspended on special rollers, which run along the tension cable and are stabilised by a counter roller. The first cable trolley is usually pulled by the equipment, the other trolleys then follow automatically being pulled by the cable. Additional cable trolleys can also be integrated into the overall system at a later point in time without any problems.
