The incremental rotary encoders give a number of pulses for each shaft revolution and its speed is regulated by counting the pulses for a certain period of time. The pulses can be counted starting from a definite reference point, if you want to get the angle or the distance covered. Dual channel quadrature output encoders attribute two signal outputs and this allows the controller to know the direction of rotation and execute two-way positioning tasks. Additionally, three-channel incremental encoders have a third signal channel known as “zero”, or reference signal and each revolution provides a single pulse.

To give the required output format, the rotation of the magnetic actuator is sensed by a custom encoder chip that is mounted on the sensor board to process output. In industry standard, incremental, absolute, analog or linear format are provided by the output signals. The encoder module consists of a separate sensor board and a magnetic actuator. The unit is easily integrated to existing electronics with a large range of outputs and both 5V and 24V power supply variants.
